Applications

This term for projects we have to write an application to the group teachers. I wrote two applications for playground and art heres a little bit.

I think I should be in the group because I enjoy building and creating new objects. I also want to be in your group because it was very interesting to me and made me want to learn more about it.

Firstly, I really enjoy art and i’m very passionate about creativity and expressing myself through drawing, painting, building, etc.

When I started you immersion I was very interested to see what kind of art we would use during the immersion.

Immersion #4 and #5

Immersion four

For immersion four I was with Chris and Amy. The school is thinking about building a new playground so by doing that they made it an immersion group. We went to the dog park (aka the Coconut park) to get some ideas of what equipment most people used. Most people used the swings so I added swings to my playground. I also added a bunch of trampolines and foam pits. My favourite part about Amy's immersion was creating the designs of our playgrounds. We ended up completing our playground in Jono's immersion. My challenges were trying to find the right blocks for my playground.

Immersion five

For immersion five I was with Jono. We started a little bit of our playgrounds in Amy's immersion. We used tinkercad to create our playgrounds. Cate and I looked at other peoples designs and they were amazing to see. We took some of the ideas and mad a playground with tunnels, slides, rock climbing walls and ball pits. In the end It looked pretty cool. I ended up using my original ideas. My favourite part was creating them because I didn't know what to create so I made random objects. My challenges were trying to think of something to create because I didn't know what to make and I couldn't find the right blocks.

Immersion #3

For my third immersion I was with Sarah and Jess. We were looked at dance and drama. My favourite part about this immersion was the acting part. We had to get into groups act out a poem. I was with Maddy, Lucia and Luca. We had to act out a poem called it's not over from a book called to many friends. I was playing the roll of a girl called Roxie, Lucia was Heidi, Maddy was Tahnee and Luca was Pia. We were asked to explain what we think dance is and creativity. I think creativity is when you let your imagination run wild and when you do things your own way. I think dance is an expression of emotion and a different way to move your body.

Ski Trip!!

Ski Trip!!

From the 22nd to the 25th 18 students from HPPS went Queenstown as a school ski/snowboarding trip. On the first day of being in Queenstown the first thing we did was drive to the YHA (Youth Hostel Association). The next day we took a bus up the mountain to coronet peak ( where we were ski/snowboarding). I went down the Big Easy and Gentle Annie on the first day. Then after a few hours of skiing we all went back to the hostel. For dinner a group of us went to fergburger. My burger was called the cockadoodle oink. The other group of people had pizza for dinner. after dinner we had our evening entertainment. Lola and Emily were the first group and they planned to play pie face. I enjoyed playing pie face because I had whip cream all over my face so I got to eat it. When we got up the hill on the second day of being up the mountain we went up meadows express and came down the big easy. After lessons a group of us went up the coronet express and went down the M1. The M1 is my favourite trail to go down. We went down it a couple times before we left. After a while of watching tv Nicole ordered pizza. After pizza jaime and I had our evening entertainment and we planned to play bean boozled. I only played 2 rounds because I had to wait a while. Overall my favourite thing was skiing because I got to go down the M1. My least favourite thing was going over some of the jumps because I fell over and hurt myself. My challenges were getting over my small fear of going down the M1. On the chair lift I was really scared but when we got to the top I wasn't scared anymore. I only fell over once coming down which i'm surprised about. We went to the remarkables sweet store. I brought 4 lollipops (one for me, one for Paige, one for my brother and one for my sister) and 1 sherbet baby bottle. 

Immersion In term 3

Immersion #1

This term for immersion we are looking at creativity. We are working with lc4 this term. My first group was with Max and we were looking at art. We made silhouettes and took photos of people to represent our community. The school has been working on a art project for the past 2 years with Tiffany Singh. My favourite is creating the silhouettes because I enjoy any kind of art. My challenges were cutting the silhouette out because the photo we picked was very detailed.

Immersion #2

For the second immersion I was with Helen and Nicole. We were looking at history. We had photos of important times in New Zealand. Eg: the treaty of waitangi. My favourite part about the immersion was playing the Hobsonville Point game. Game link . I enjoyed playing the game because it shows the history behind Hobsonville Point. My challenges were finding out the answers for some of the photos because some of them I didn't know and we didn't have much time. Next week I will be with Jess and Sarah.

Project summary | Literacy | Maths

Term 1 Projects

As my project last term I did fitness.I was in a group with Mikayla, Ethan, Dan and Jake .On the first day of projets we all had to come up with problems about fitness my one problem was laziness. People are becoming to lazy to do anything so what my group and I did was to come up with fun fitness exercises to get you heart rate up. We also researched things about fitness (eg: how does it affect our bodys?). I put all my research on a google slide to show evidence. In the end My group and I did finish our project and presented it to the learning common.



Maths
I'm in Felicitys hogwats hedwigs maths.For maths up to standards which i'm very pleased about. I've been working hard on my maths to get up to standard now I just need to get above standard. In maths I have been working on measurement.


Literacy
For literacy i'm in Feliciys huffle puff. For one of Felicitys workshops we had to do a explanation. My explanation was about energy. I had to write two or three paragraphs but I did four.

How do people use energy in everyday lives?

Everyone uses energy everyday (eg: exercising, traveling, etc). We use energy in basically everything cars, Bikes, Sports, even blinking. There is more than one type of energy. There's kinetic, Potential, Thermal, Light and Motion.

How to tie shoelaces-Huffle puff follow up

Materials:
Laced shoes
Two hands

Goal:
To tie shoelaces.


STEP 1:
Grab a lace with each hand.

STEP 2:
With your left hand Cross the left lace over the right lace and pull the left lace through the hole.

STEP 3:
Make two bunny ears with the lace and cross the left bunny ear over the right bunny ear and pull the left bunny ear through the hole and pull tight.

Felicity's immersion-Plants

Today all the immersion groups switched so i'm with felicity now.

Felicity's immersion is about plants.We had to find out how to tell if something is alive.

Movement,Respiration,Sensitivity,Growth,Reproduction,Excrete and Nutrition.

We also had to sort pictures of objects into groups of living,once living and not living.

After that we had to sort the same pictures into groups of animal or plant.
In the next immersion with felicity we will grow our on plants but make one with something and something without. I'm partnered with Indi and we are trying one plant with water and one without.
I think that the plant with water will grow and the one without will only grow a little bit.

Building a roller coaster - Energy immersion

For immersion today the group and I tried to make a roller coaster (click here)But it had to be fun and safe.
I thought it was going to be easy but it was hard because everything I tried it said it wasn't safe and wasn't fun.After trying so many times to try and make my roller coaster safe and fun it didn't work.We are also learning about force and what it does to our bodys.To find out what it does we are going to Silverdale adventure park(click here). I'm very excited to be going out to the adventure park and going on the down hill luge and spaceship simulator.

Making a solar panel house - Energy Immersion

For immersion today instead of Amy running it Trudy did. We got given a card and whatever symbol was on it thats what group we were in. I was in spades. We had to make a solar panel house. I found it really difficult because my group wasn't working together.In the end after four or five tries we got it to work.
